Obaseki says rising number of Obidients threaten survival of APC, PDP(Watch Video)

Governor of Edo State, Godwin Obaseki, has warned of a possible upset in the 2023 election with alternative political platforms displacing established ones.

Obaseki, while speaking on the outcome of the Ekiti State governorship election where his party, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) finished third, said Nigerians are becoming disenchanted and looking for alternatives.

The  All Progressives Congress (APC) governorship candidate, Biodun Oyebanji, won the Ekiti governorship election held last Saturday, June 18 with a landslide of 187,057 votes. The Social Democratic Party (SDP) candidate, Segun Oni, came a distant second with 82,211 votes, while the candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Bisi Kolawole, finished third with 67,457 votes.

Obaseki said the fact that a major party such as the PDP would finish third in that election behind the SDP, shows that people are becoming disenchanted with the two established political parties.

Obaseki warned that the growing popularity of Peter Obi’s supporters who call themselves Obidients could spell doom for the two major political parties.
