Over 1500 residents of Otta and surrounding communities on Tuesday, July 14th, 2026, received free medical care as Omooba Boluwatife Adeyanju in partnership with The Palace of Olota of Otta successfully held a one-day Free Medical Check-up and Treatment Event at Oba Isiyemi Hall, Olota’s Palace, Ipeti Square.
The outreach, which ran from 10:00 AM to 4:00 PM, brought together a team of professional physicians, nurses, pharmacists and health educators who provided free consultation, screening, treatment and basic medications to beneficiaries.
From as early as 8:30 AM, residents including market women, artisans, students, and the elderly were seen in large numbers at the Palace awaiting medical attention. By midday, the hall had recorded a massive turnout, with organizers confirming that over 1500 people were attended to within the 6-hour period.
The event also had in attendance key government functionaries and political leaders, including Hon. Olamide Lawal, Special Adviser to the Governor on Youths Development; Hon. Okikiola Olundegun, APC Ado-Odo/Ota State Constituency 1 House of Assembly candidate; Hon. Nurudeen Aina Akinpelu, former Ado-Odo/Ota State Constituency 1 House of Assembly member; Hon. Segun Ojolowo-Ojuko, Senior Special Assistant on Housing to the Ogun State Governor; and Prince Olusesi, who represented The Palace of Olota of Otta.
Beneficiaries received screening for hypertension, diabetes, malaria and other common ailments. Those diagnosed were given immediate treatment and prescribed drugs at no cost. The medical team also conducted one-on-one health education and counseling sessions on nutrition, hygiene, and preventive healthcare.
Speaking at the event, Omooba Boluwatife Adeyanju, the convener, said the outreach was borne out of the need to take healthcare directly to the people, especially those who cannot afford regular hospital visits.
“Today is about service and about dignity. We saw mothers, fathers and young people who have not seen a doctor in years. Health should not be a privilege. Our goal was simple: check them, treat them, and send them home healthier. I am grateful to His Royal Majesty and the Palace of Olota for providing the platform and support to make this possible,” Omooba Adeyanju stated.
While addressing the press, the convener also used the opportunity to charge residents on civic responsibility ahead of the next election cycle. He stressed that everyone must get their PVC and come out to vote.
