It is without doubt that this world is full of confusion and the challenges of life are evident, but God has made a way for us to still be in control and bear great fruits. It is of great significance that In Christ Jesus we have absolute dominion and control over every aspect of our lives here on earth.
God created us and gave us the power to have dominion on earth and subdue it. In the Bible Book of Genesis Chapter 1 vs 28, it says “And God blessed them, and God said unto them, Be fruitful, and multiply, and replenish the earth, and subdue it: and have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the fowl of the air, and over every living thing that moveth upon the earth.”
So, we are created by default to subdue every challenge that we can face on earth, have dominion over them and still be fruitful. After the fall of man through the sin of Adam of Eve, sin took over the dominion we had in God, but God in his infinite wisdom gave man a way out by sending another Saviour, Jesus Christ to redeem us and give us back the dominion we originally had in God. In the same way, when we continue in sin and doing things that are disobedient to the word of God, we sell ourselves to be dominated by the confusion, evil and adversity of life. But through Christ, we can always be restored to the original authority, dominion and victory we have in God.
Ephesians 1:7-9
“In whom we have redemption through his blood, the forgiveness of sins, according to the riches of his grace; 8Wherein he hath abounded toward us in all wisdom and prudence; Having made known unto us the mystery of his will, according to his good pleasure which he hath purposed in himself”
Ephesians 1:7-9
Our responsibility is to continue to believe and work by the word of God which is personified in Christ Jesus, the son of the living God.
Here are some specific ways to exercise dominion in the midst of such circumstances:
- Seek God’s wisdom: When faced with confusion and challenges, seek God’s wisdom through prayer and studying His Word. Proverbs 3:5-6 says, “Trust in the LORD with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways submit to him, and he will make your paths straight.” Rely on God’s guidance and trust that He will provide clarity and direction.
- Stand on God’s promises: The Bible is filled with promises from God that can bring hope and assurance in difficult times. Find specific promises that address your situation and meditate on them. Declare these promises over your life and circumstances, knowing that God’s Word is powerful and faithful.
- Develop a strong faith: Cultivate a deep and unwavering faith in God’s ability to work in and through your life. Hebrews 11:1 says, “Now faith is confidence in what we hope for and assurance about what we do not see.” Trust that God is in control, even when things seem uncertain. Strengthen your faith through prayer, studying Scripture, and surrounding yourself with fellow believers who can encourage and support you.
- Overcome through Christ: Jesus has already overcome the world (John 16:33), and as His followers, we can draw strength from His victory. In challenging times, remember that you are not alone. Rely on the power of the Holy Spirit within you to overcome obstacles and navigate through confusion. Through Christ, you have the authority to overcome any challenge you face.
- Walk in the fruit of the Spirit: Galatians 5:22-23 describes the fruit of the Spirit as love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control. As you surrender to the Holy Spirit and allow these qualities to manifest in your life, you will be able to navigate challenges with a spirit of peace, love, and patience. By walking in the fruit of the Spirit, you can be a source of light and stability in a confused and challenging world.
- Serve and love others: Jesus taught us to love our neighbours as ourselves and to serve one another. In the face of confusion and challenges, extend compassion, kindness, and support to those around you. By showing Christ’s love in practical ways, you can make a positive impact and bring hope to others.
Remember that having dominion in Christ Jesus does not guarantee a life free from challenges and confusion. However, it empowers you to navigate through them with faith, wisdom, and love. Trust in God’s sovereignty, rely on His strength and lean on the support of fellow believers as you exercise dominion in Christ Jesus in the midst of life’s challenges.
