The Oyo State APC Youth League has taken a swipe at Governor Seyi Makinde, accusing him of misplaced priorities. The governor recently made headlines for challenging Minister of Works, Dave Umahi, to account for road projects under his supervision.
In a viral video, Makinde was seen calling for accountability, a move the Youth League described as “cheap popularity.” They argued that the governor should focus on addressing Oyo State’s pressing issues, such as dilapidated school classrooms, lack of infrastructure, and non-functional local government secretariats.
The Youth League also criticized Makinde for failing to account for billions of naira allocated to the state and its 33 local governments, which he has handcuffed since the local government elections. They noted that the governor’s silence on these issues is deafening, particularly when compared to his vocal criticism of Umahi.
The league urged Makinde to prioritize Oyo State’s development and stop siphoning public funds for unrealistic presidential ambitions.
“He should remember he is the governor of Oyo State, and his primary assignment is here, not chasing unrealistic dreams,” the statement read.”
