There was a mild drama in Ba’ap, headquarters of Qua’an Pan Local Government Area of Plateau State as the Transition Committee Chairman, Hon. Christopher Audu Manship, and some election observers are presently battling for their life, as party delegates are suspected to be behind the attacks.
It was discovered that primary election held on Thursday August 15, 2024, turned into violence following the declaration of TIC Chairman as winner of the party Chairmanship race ahead of October 19 Local Government Election in the State.
An observer who claimed anonimity, told 9News Nigeria correspodent in Jos, that the exercise was initially peaceful but some delegates and PDP faithful who were denied assess into the the hall forced their way in and went straight to the TIC Chairman.
“The mob beat up Hon. Audu without mercy while complaining that he manipulated the process to emerge winner of the primaries”
“It was alleged that Hon. Audu handpicked his loyalists as delegates at the election while blocking real delegates from accessing the venue to exercise their franchise”.
The Council Chairman was rushed out of Ba’ap, the headquarters of Qua’an Pan Local Government Area, to an undisclosed location for medical attention.
He was said to have sustained serious injuries as a result of the attack.
The angry delegates also beat up some officials of the Plateau State Independent Electoral Commission (PLASIEC) who were present to oversee the process of the election.
However, The Party is yet to issue an official statement on the incident.
