Victims of a recent attack in Nwar communities of Chakfem Chiefdom in Mangu Local Government Area of Plateau State have cried over their inability to harvest their crops as a result of the invasion of their community by suspected Fulani bandits, who have stopped them from harvesting their crops.
The attackers reportedly invaded the area destroying farmlands, and warned villagers against entering their own farms, forcing many families into hunger.
According to a youth leader in the community, Ayuba Yunana, “the bandits have taken over their farms and have dared them to go in and harvest their crops.
Yunana said “as a result of the dangerous incursion into their village by the bandits, they are afraid to go to their farms for fear of being attacked or killed.”
Yunana added that “the bandits activities – destroying crops, grazing cattle in farmlands, and stealing livestock -appears aimed at improverishing the people and triggering famine.”
He appealed to the government and security agencies to intervene urgently, stressing that women and children are already suffering from hunger as the attackers continue to occupy their lands.
