Police arrests notorious phone snatcher, recovers stolen items

Operatives of the Nasarawa State Police Command have arrested a notorious armed robber who specializes in phone snatching and house breaking. ZahradeenJafa’aru, a male resident of Angwan Jaba area of Lafia.

Zahradeen, aƧcording to the police, is a resident of Angwan Jaba of Lafia, Nasarawa State capital.

The State’s Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Ramhan Nansel, made this known in a statement issued to journslists on Wednesday afternoon in Lafia.

AƧcording to the statement, the suspect was arrested after complaint was lodged at the ‘A’ Division, Lafia of the Nigeria Police on Tuesday. Thieves were said to have broke into a house behind Sabo Carriage, Lafia and carted away three (3) mobile phones and a power bank.

“Police operatives attached to the said Division carried out a comprehensive investigation which led to the arrest of one Zahrahdeen Ja’afaru ‘male’ of Angwan Jaba, Lafia. A search warrant was executed at his residence where four (4) stolen phones and a power bank were recovered.

“Furthermore, seventy one (71) SIM cards of different network providers were also recovered as exhibit,” Nansel said.

The Police spokesman added that the suspect has confessed to being responsible for a serial of house -breaking/theft and snatching of handsets from members of the public in Lafia and its environs”.

Meanwhile, the State Commissioner of Police, CP Umar Shehu Nadada has tasked the Divisional Police Officer (DPO) to go after the suspects accomplices, arrest them, and charge all to Court upon the conclusion of the investigation.
