
The Deputy Inspector General (DIG) of Police, Mohammed Ali, on Wednesday paid a courtesy visit to the Director General and Chief Executive Officer of the Nigerian Meteorological Agency (NiMet), Professor Charles Anosike.
According to 9News Nigeria reports, the visit was to discuss areas of mutual interest between the police and the agency.
During the meeting, held at NiMet’s headquarters on 29 January 2025, both officials explored potential collaborations aimed at enhancing security and public safety through meteorological data and early warning systems.
The discussions centered on leveraging weather intelligence to support law enforcement operations, disaster response, and national security strategies.
DIG Ali emphasized the importance of integrating meteorological insights into police operations, particularly in areas prone to natural disasters and climate-related security risks.
In response, Professor Anosike reaffirmed NiMet’s commitment to providing timely and accurate weather information that could aid security agencies in their strategic planning.
