In a press briefing held in Asaba yesterday, Hon. Lucky Dikadi Chukwunedum, the Senior Special Assistant to the Governor of Delta State on Community Development, called on Senator Ovie Omo-Agege, the APC candidate in the 2023 gubernatorial election, to accept the outcome of the election and return to the People’s Democratic Party (PDP). Dikadi, who is a former legislative aide to the former deputy Senate President, Sen. Ovie Omo-Agege, emphasized the need for collaboration and urged Omo-Agege to work in synergy with the present government.
Dikadi commended the Nigerian justice system for ensuring fairness without interference, which affirmed the victory of His Excellency Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori at the Supreme Court.
He stated that Omo-Agege should view the election outcome as an act of God and make arrangements to collapse his structure and return to the PDP in Delta State. By doing so, Dikadi argued, Omo-Agege and his followers would remain relevant in the system until the year 2031.
The former aide highlighted the historical affiliation between Delta State and the PDP, stating that the state has always been associated with the party. He urged Omo-Agege to join hands with the present governor in moving Delta State forward, emphasizing that there would be no gain in staying in opposition until 2031 when the present governor would hand over to another governor.
During the event, PDP supporters were hosted by Dikadi, and there was a distribution of food, drinks, and other goodies, which brought joy to everyone in attendance.
As the political landscape in Delta State continues to evolve, it remains to be seen whether Senator Omo-Agege will heed Dikadi’s call and return to the PDP, or if he will choose to remain with the APC.
