President Bola Ahmed Tinubu is set to mark two years in office.
The Presidency has now released a detailed statement outlining key milestones achieved under this administration, signaling what it describes as a period of “renewed progress, resilience, and reform.”
Among the standout achievements, the President highlighted the empowerment of over 900,000 Nigerians through the Presidential Loan and Grant Scheme, and more than 300,000 beneficiaries under the new Students’ Loan Scheme, which aims to expand access to tertiary education nationwide.
In the economic sphere, President Tinubu’s administration announced the clearing of over $10 billion in foreign exchange debts, a move expected to stabilize the naira and rebuild investor confidence.
Furthermore, to boost macroeconomic stability, Nigeria’s net foreign exchange reserves have surged from $3.99 billion in 2023 to $23.11 billion in 2024.
Additionally, the country recorded a 3.84% GDP growth in the fourth quarter of 2024, the highest in three years.
The President also pointed to a surge in investment inflows, with over $50 billion in new foreign direct investment (FDI) commitments, $8 billion in oil and gas investments unlocked, and more than $800 million realized from solid minerals processing investments during the year.
On infrastructure, Tinubu’s administration is currently undertaking over 440 road projects, including more than 2,700 kilometers of superhighways.
In labor reforms, the government has commenced the payment of a new national minimum wage of ₦70,000, addressing long-standing demands from organized labor.
The President also reported significant security gains, noting that over 13,500 terrorists have been eliminated through coordinated efforts by Nigeria’s security forces.
In legislative advancements, four landmark Tax Reform Bills have been introduced to overhaul Nigeria’s fiscal framework, alongside the establishment of five new Regional Development Commissions, tailored to address the unique developmental challenges of various geopolitical zones.
“These achievements reflect our commitment to building a stronger, more inclusive, and prosperous Nigeria,” President Tinubu stated.
