As Israel hosted the Eurovision performance, fans booed and chanted ‘Free Palestine’.
Israeli singer, Eden Golan was nearly suffocated by the protest during the Eurovision Song Contest’s Jury Show on Wednesday.
Videos circulated online, displaying pro-Palestine supporters disrupting almost her entire performance, with people in the crowd calling the atmosphere ‘horrible’.
Meanwhile, the Singer has faced death threats ahead of her performances at the Malmo Arena in Sweden this week.
This follows calls for Israel to be barred from competing in Eurovision following the war in Gaza, which has seen 33,000 Palestinians killed as a consequence of the terrorist attacks launched by Hamas.
In her song, ‘October Rain’, Golan had caused controversy after she was accused of referencing the kidnapping and killing Israelis on October 7 by militant group Hamas.
The protest which occurred while she was performing took place during the jury show held before the televised programme to allow jurors to give their scores early, citing probable issues with voting later on.
