Canadian rapper Drake lost $1.5 million by betting on Argentina’s victory in the 2026 World Cup final, which Spain beat 1:0. This added to the list of the singer’s failed predictions, known as the “Drake curse”.

The Granny-winning artist had backed Argentina to defeat Spain, placing the multimillion-dollars wager through betting platform Stake. Had Argentina won the final, Drake would have received a payout of more than $5.1 million.

Instead, Spain secured the World Cup title with only goal of the match in extra time, handing Argentina a narrow defeat and leaving Drake’s latest high-profile sports bet unsuccessful.

The loss has reignited online discussions about the so-called “Drake Curse” a popular superstition among sports fans who believe teams or athletes backed by the rapper often go on to lose.

Just few days earlier Drake also lost a one million dollar bet on the victory of Irish fighter Conor McGregor in his UFC bout against Max Holloway.

Drake, 39, whose real name is Aubrey Drake Graham, is a five-time Grammy Award winner. In May, he simultaneously released three albums – Iceman, Maid Of HONOUR, and Habiibti.These were his first studio releases since 2023, and the album Iceman became the rapper’s seventh record to top the UK album chat.
