Toney’s four-year deal will make him basic pay of around £400,000 per week after tax.

Add-one and performance-related bonuses would take his salary to towards £500k/week across his contract.

To earn the same take-home pay on the UK after tax, it would need a fixed salary to £1 milion per week.

An eye-watering upgrade from his time in Brentford, where he was on less than ¢50,000 per week.

Al-Ahli invested £40 mllion as transfer fee for Toney after the current African footballer of the year, Victor Osimhen deal collapsed on UK Deadline Day.

The 28- year old, £40 million move to join AL-Ahli from Brentford will crown him one of the best-paid English players in the game after passing his medicals and signing a long-time contract.

Toney became the second England player to head to Saudi Pro League, after Jordan Henderson.

His first game is against the five-time World Best Player, Cristiano Ronaldo’s AL- Nassr after the international break, with new team-mates at AL-Ahli including Roberto Firmino and Eduardo Mendy, who he faced in Premier League.
