Yaoundé, Cameroon – Recall the disturbing video that was made round the social media wave, showing a woman, now identified as 26-year-old Victorine Bikoe, urinating into a pot of ‘okok’ soup intended for her customers. The footage went viral after her phone, which contained the self-recorded act, was stolen and the video disseminated. Some accounts revealed that the phone was sent for repair by Victorine Bikoe and the phone repairer discovered the abominable videos and made it public.
After viewing the video, some of her customers, who frequented her restaurant expressed their horror and disbelief that they actually ate such nauseating food. One of the customers recounted, “We were all shocked, just like everyone else. Two young men arrived here in the afternoon around 1 PM with the video and showed it to us. We were horrified to see her urinating in the food she sells to us.”
In their outrage, clients vandalized Victorine’s restaurant and threatened her with physical harm. During the upheaval, they discovered bottles of urine stored inside the establishment. A customer noted, “There was a container where she stored egg trays in a cardboard box, and there were feces stored there as well.”
Many patrons had previously complained of stomach aches after consuming her food but felt inexplicably drawn to it. They now await her arrest to understand the motives behind her actions.
As of February 11, Victorine remains at large. She is married and a mother of six. Her husband, a plumber who occasionally assisted in the restaurant, claims ignorance of his wife’s practices. The family has barricaded themselves in their home, facing potential eviction by their landlord.
Local residents are relieved that the incident has come to light, prompting serious concerns about food safety and hygiene standards in restaurants across the country.
