South African billionaire Rupert displaces Nigerian Dangote to emerge Africa’s richest man. Having rated on a global scale, Rupert is ranked as the 192nd wealthiest person in the world, according to Forbes, while Dangote now resides at the 230th position, a notable drop from his longstanding top spot.

Johann Rupert is a prominent South African businessman and the chairman of Richemont, a Swiss-based luxury goods company.

Born on June 1, 1950, in Stellenbosch, South Africa. Rupert is known for his involvement in the luxury goods industry, including brands like Cartier and Montblanc.

Also, he has diverse business interests, ranging from mining to agriculture.

The latest African richest passed through the University of Stellenbosch and the University of Oxford, Rupert gained knowledge in economics and embarked on his entrepreneurial journey.

He Co-founded Remgro, a prominent South African investment holding company, and assumed the role of CEO in 1988, showcasing exceptional leadership.

Meanwhile, as of January 2, 2023, Forbes reported Rupert’s net worth at an impressive $10.3 billion, while Dangote’s fortunes slightly declined to $9.5 billion.
