Segun Aina, a Professor of Computer Engineering, has assumed office as the registrar of the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB).
Aina took over the reins of the board on Friday from Professor Is-haq Oloyede, whose two-term tenure of 10 years ended on July 31, 2026, at JAMB’s headquarters in Bwari, Abuja.
In a statement announcing the appointment, Bayo Onanuga, Special Adviser to the President on Information and Strategy, described Aina as “a distinguished academic and systems expert with extensive experience in national examination systems, digital infrastructure, and public-sector institutional reform”
“At 39, he became one of Nigeria’s youngest Computer Engineering professors and will now make history as JAMB’s youngest registrar”, Onanuga added.
At 40, Segun Aina becomes the youngest person to serve as Registrar of JAMB, following his appointment by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu on May 21, 2026.
Delivering his inaugural address titled “The Trust We Hold”, Aina described JAMB as more than an examination body, saying it serves as the bridge between the aspirations of millions of Nigerian youths and opposition for higher education.
He assured Nigerians that the credibility of the Board would remain non-negotiable under his leadership, warning examination fraudsters, impersonators, cyber criminals, and all those involved in compromising the admissions process that JAMB would intensify efforts to detect, deter and prosecute offenders.
“Every young Nigerian must know that success in JAMB will continue to be earned through preparation, merit and honest effort-not through influence, manipulation or fraud”, he declared.
He added that the board under his leadership would continue to collaborate with security agencies to strengthen the integrity of the Matriculation examinations.
