The Sokoto State government had announced that it would spend over N530 million to buy and distribute mosquito nets to the members of the public across the state.
An anti-malaria campaign group, End Malaria In Nigeria, has described the claim by the Sokoto State government that it spent over N530 million on mosquito nets as misdirected.
In its reaction, the End Malaria In Nigeria group, in a statement signed by its convener, Francis Nwapa, said that the inauguration of the Malaria Elimination Council of businessmen is a wild goose chase as over half a billion naira has been spent on the purchase and distribution of treated mosquito nets in Sokoto State alone.
