It is quite unfortunate to hear that Imo state has not implemented the FG approved thirty thousand 30,000 naira minimum wage for workers till date and this could have been resolved before rolling out the chatter buses to convey workers from various ministries since the government is aware of the resounding importance this increment could have been to the public range when this money is paid to workers.
It is on this demand therefore, the leadership of the labour unions, the NLC and TUC have strategized very strongly to stage protests in the states that have not yet implemented the Federal government approved thirty thousand 30,000 Naira minimum wage of civil servants, which Imo is seriously affected.
This statement was made public at a press briefing held in Owerri few hours ago. 9News Nigeria correspondent authoritatively gathered that the thirty 30,000 Naira minimum wage has not been implemented in Imo ,Ebonyi and few other states and this has virtually affected the operational psyche of workers in these states. This is a pressing challenge to the Imo state government.
Recall that few weeks ago, His Excellency Governor Hope Uzodinma dolled out series of shuttle buses to civil servants in Imo to ease their transportation service but against this backdrop, the non regular payment of monthly salaries, pension arrears and non implementation of FG approved minimum wage has brought low the tempo of work all over the state.
It is the wish of Imolites to see the peoples’ governor, Hope Uzodinma implement the minimum wage and make Imo workers continue to work happily and show the needed support to government.
Also, the need for the government to have a talk with the labour union groups is very important to calm the tension.
Does it mean that the government cannot pay Nigerian workers or that there is no allocation for the payment? The people are asking.
