Governor Agbu Kefas of Taraba has dismissed claims that the state government was planning to demolish Takum palace and Central Mosque to pave way for the construction of T.Y Danjuma University.
Recall that the Kuteb Yatso of Nigeria, KYN, an ethnic group in the state, had raised an alarm over an alleged plot by the state government to demolish the long-standing buildings.
Speaking while addressing a press conference, KYN national president, Emmanuel Ukwen, warned that these actions, if allowed to proceed, could heighten religious tensions in the state.
But while addressing the concern, the state Commissioner for Information, Zainab Usman, described the allegations as baseless and untrue.
She stated that the information was aimed at provoking fear and tension within the community.
“Our commitment to delivering good governance and meaningful development benefits all citizens equally, regardless of their religion or tribe.
“These falsehoods, spread by chaos-mongers, will not distract us. The people of Taraba State are advised to disregard these rumours,” she said.
The commissioner maintained that the state government remained committed to peace, unity, growth, welfare and justice for all.
