Yesterday, Fulani herdsmen butchered a farmer at Ivo which is located in my state, Ebonyi. I wanted not to talk about this on my Facebook wall because am not good at unnecessary criticism but the news that the governor banned herdsmen from entering communities in Ivo Council Area of the state only prompted this.
According to the report, ”Ebonyi State Governor, Chief David Umahi, Tuesday banned Fulani herdsmen and their cattle from entering communities in Ivo Council Area of the state following a clash between suspected Fulani herders and a farmer in Akaeze community which left the farmer fatally injured”.
Let me quickly tell you the implication of the governor’s action.
The Fulani herdsmen having been banned from all the communities in Ivo council area will now move to other parts of Ebonyi and continue their heinous and nefarious actions.
Solution : The governor should ban Fulani herdsman from all the communities in Ebonyi state if he wants to ban them in order for what happened in Benue not to happen in Ebonyi state. Cattle rearing is a private business and if herdsmen want to stay in Ebonyi, they should buy lands from those that are ready to face the disadvantage when it comes.
I don’t want to talk about the governor going to other states to settle disputes while his house is on fire.
