The MasterClass Initiative Roundtable Discussion MasterClass on Legal and Ethics: Ethical Issues Surrounding The Use of Social Networks live on Africunia TV Channel by Akash Chatterjee
The entire gamut of social relationships invariably rests upon the interconnection interaction and reciprocity of a person with another. While the modes of communication have changed over time, the fundamental unique desire to communicate, to share and to be connected still remains. The 21st century has seen perhaps the most dramatic progression from gadgets of the past to innovations and more to come.
Human beings are today virtually connected and have practically reduced the world into one community that stays thoroughly informed.
As much as we can praise social media we cannot perhaps deny the darker sides of it.
It is indeed ironic that today even when the pandemic discourages physical intimacy in relationships and frequency of regular meetups we still cling on to social media which again has its own versions of the story. Cyber bullying, cyber trafficking ,misuse of updated information, online abuse harassment and the Story Goes on.
We find and we come across many who have encountered that dark site of virtual social connectivity.
Ethics are the pillars of any relationship and just like we have customs regulating our behaviour we have etiquette defining our social conduct in the same way we have ethics in social networking which is a set code largely consented by preconceived notions of morality in the society that has to be adhered to in order to make the virtual social world a happy place to be.
Joining us to discuss this is our key Note Speaker, Professor Masimba Mavaza, Legal Adviser to The Zimbabwe Government, Mr Obinna Smog Ejianya, Publisher 9News Nigeria alongside other notable Legal counsels as panelists across the globe on May 22 by 2pm UK Time
