Former Kaduna Central Senator, Shehu Sani has urged the authorities to protect Director General of the National Agency for Food and Drug Control, NAFDAC, Professor Mojisola Adeyeye.
Sani made the call on his X handle on Thursday after Adeyeye raised the alarm over threat on her life and safety of the agency staff.
Speaking at the President Villa, Abuja, on Wednesday,, Adeyeye disclosed that NAFDAC officials face constant danger while cracking down fake and substandard pharmaceutical products across the country.
“Our officials have been targeted simply for doing their job.
“One of our staff members in Kano had his child kidnapped because he refused to compromise, luckily, the child escaped”, Adeyeye said.
Reacting, Sani said Adeyeye has become a target for spearheading the campaign against counterfeit drugs.
“NAFDAC boos must be protected. ” “Professor Mojisola Adeyeye has raised alarm over threats to her life. Without doubt, the manufacturers of fake drugs and adulterated foods are at the center of this.
“She has become their nightmare by courageous and constantly busting their evil and deadly business, and protecting the lives of Nigerians.
“They want to be left alone to produce food and drinks in their backyards that will kill our children.
“Professor Mojisola has maintained and advanced the standard set by the late heroine Dora Akunyili.
“The threat to Professor Mojisola is a threat to the lives of all Nigerians”, he said
