President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has called on the leadership of the 10th Senate to amend the Nigerian Construction to establish a legal framework for the creation of state police across the country.
The President made the appeal on Wednesday during an interfaith breakfast with senators at the Presidential Villa, Abuja.
According to a statement issued by Bayo Onanuga, Special Adviser to the President on Information and Strategy, Tinubu stressed that the establishment of state police has become imperative in addressing Nigeria’s evolving security challenges and enhancing community-level policy.
He noted that decentralizing policing powers would strengthen grassroots security efforts and improve the country’s overall safety framework.
