Imo Women Plan To Go Naked To Arouse Government's Attention For Immediate Road Repairs

By Princely Onyenwe, Imo

Following the recent pronouncement of the Imo state governor Uzodinma for the recovery of 1.4bn mobilisation paid on Nekede-Ihiagwa road by former ousted governor Ihedioha, the generality of Imo women has condemned such a move saying that such a statement cannot hold water.

Information reaching to 9News Nigeria revealed the issue of Nekede -Ihiagwa road at hand blaming uzodinma for not doing any good on Imo road.

This situation has contributed hardship to its road users who has continued to ask Imo government if ‘they are not worried that our mothers, wives and sisters are planning to protest naked to arouse the seriousness of Imo government who wants to play game with the road?

Recall that the same road has been reported in various media and the government has not done any work till date.

Meanwhile Nekede Federated Union ably led by High Chief Kennedy Zanders through the Director of information, Chidi Uneze has issued a communique, captioned “RE- NAZE/NEKEDE/IHIAGWA ROAD IN ISSUE”

“I have read with keen interest and good understanding your contributions on the Imo State government’s intent to re-award the above road when the rains are over”

I personally have my reservations on “waiting to re-award the road when the rains are over cum its resolve to compel the Chinese Contractor to refund a certain amount he was paid by the Rt Hon Emeka Ihedioha’s government.

To me the above government’s positions make me feel like Nda(Dr) Etofolam would feel that we are in a one chance bus.

Yes, what will stop the government to perfect re-awarding the contract to whoever now to enable the new Contractor go to the site as soon as the rains are over?

Two, why robbing in the issue of the Rt Hon Ihedioha’s government Contractor refunding the money paid to him?

This for sure will not be a piece of cake for Governor Hope’s government.

As a layman in law, I see it as a ploy by this government to abandon the road indefinitely, because the Chinese Contractor will certainly seek a redress in the court of competent jurisdiction to challenge the legality of Governor Hope Uzodinma’s government actions.

This for real will be revisiting Chief Emmanuel Iwuanyanwu’s Hardel and Enic Company problem with the government of Ohakim if I am not mistaken to the same road. We should not allow this to happen under our watch.

He added that while they hope to make possible contacts, he suggest volunteers from among us to come up with their names to join the NFU exco and BoT to with military precision go meet with the member representing Owerri west in the House of Assembly, Hon Kanayo Onyemaechi, in his house to hear from him and tell him our fears for onward communication to His Excellency Governor Hope Uzodinma. If our Ihiagwa kinsmen can join us, that will be fine”

While on call with 9News, the women has maintained that the statement to recover such Money before work on Imo roads was a big joke.

They lamented over the trademark of a flippant government. According to the women, “We all witnessed the seriousness of the construction company b4 the Supreme Court judgment that brough in governor Uzodinma.

They were working 24hrs duty making sure they meet the demands of the government that contracted them and also the people.

They were still making progressive efforts even after the judgement until the present government asked them to pack up.

Now, your are requesting them for a refund.

This shows lack of due seriousness and a frivolous action. Imo women frowned.
