The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) says it is prepared to conduct the bye-elections scheduled for Saturday in Cross River.
The Commission’s spokesperson in Cross River, Mrs Tonia Nwobi stated this in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Calabar on Tuesday.
Nwobi said the bye-elections which would be conducted for two state constituencies and one federal constituency, would take place in 34 polling units in four Local Government Areas of the state.
She explained that the elections would take place in eight polling units in the Akamkpa council area, 11 polling units in Biase, two units in Obanliku, and 13 in Yala local government.
She added that logistics and security had been put in place to ensure free, fair, and credible exercise.
According to her, no fewer than 100,000 voters will participate in the exercise and we are using INEC staff and not ad-hoc staff for the bye-elections.
