The Yobe State Government has permanently banned the transfer of teachers from schools to other government offices and agencies.
The government said many teachers have been moved from education offices to non-teaching departments and state colleges.
This has reduced the number of teachers available in schools.
The order was issued on 22 May 2026 by the Office of the Head of Service. It was signed by Head of Service Abdullahi Musa Shehu.
The ban affects three bodies: the Teaching Service Board, the Science and Technical Schools’ Board, and the State Universal Basic Education Board.
From now on, no ministry, agency, or college can ask for teachers from these boards.
The boards are also not allowed to release any teaching staff.
The government said this step is needed to keep enough teachers in schools.
It is part of Governor Mai Mala Buni’s plan to improve education in Yobe State.
Governor Buni declared a state of emergency on education when he took office.
Since then, the state has started many reforms to raise the quality of learning.
Officials said the transfer of teachers was slowing down these efforts.
They added that the goal is to make Yobe one of the best states for education in Nigeria.
The government warned that anyone who breaks the rule will face serious action. It also asked all stakeholders to share the information and follow the directive strictly.
