Yobe State donates N100 Million Aid to Borno Flood Victims

Victims of flood in Borno State has gotten another N100m donation as a support to help them in their trying times.

This was following over N5bn donations by different people and government bodies.

The latest donation was granted by the Yobe State government.

The state governor, Mai Mala Buni presented the donation during a sympathy visit to Borno State governor, Prof. Babagana Umara Zulum on Saturday in Maiduguri.

Governor Buni described the flood disaster and humanitarian crisis as ‘catastrophic’ and emphasized the urgent need for collective support.

“Yobe and Borno states are like twins that have suffered similar fates and need the support of one another,” he said.

In addition to his government’s contribution, Gov. Buni personally donated foodstuffs worth N50 million to those impacted by the disaster.

He also offered prayers for the souls lost in the floods and wished for the swift recovery of those affected.

On his part, Governor Zulum expressed gratitude to the Yobe government and its people for their generous assistance.

“The people of Yobe and Borno states remain one united family; what affects one, affects the other,” he said.

He praised Gov. Buni for reinforcing the bond between the two states and for his consistent support since taking office.

“Your administration has on several occasions identified with the government and people of Borno state.

“The government and people of Borno state deeply appreciate Your Excellency for this very kind gesture” Gov. Zulum said.

As the flood incident enters day six, many victims are trying to evacuate their location to seek for shelter elsewhere, while thousands that were displaced are taking shelter in official and nonofficial IDP camps across the city.
