The Presidential candidate of the Labour Party (LP) in 2023 general elections, Peter Obi, has said that his involvement in the coalition ahead of the 2027 elections is focused on the fight against bad governance, hunger, and poverty, not personal political ambition.
Obi, a former governor of Anambra State, disclosed this in Abuja on Monday, May 19, 2025, while reacting to reports that he has agreed to serve as former Vice President Atiku Abubakar’s running mate in the 2027 general election.
The report also claimed that Atiku has agreed to serve for only one term and was willing to formalize the agreement in writing.
When asked to confirm the existence of such an agreements, Obi said, ‘The only coalition I am interested in is the one against hunger, poverty, and the bad state of healthcare and education in the country. I am not desperate for any position”.
