NLC Issues Nationwide Strike Notice, Releases Date, Mobilizes Members, Affiliates

As Nigerians continue to grapple in the face of current socio-economic hardship resulting from some harsh policies of the current President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s administration, the Nigeria Labour Congress, NLC, has again issued a seven day Nationwide Strike notice.

The NLC in it’s release gave the Tinubu Federal Government Sevan days ultimatum to reverse all perceived anti-poor policies, including the recent hike in the pump price of petrol, or face an indefinite nationwide strike from August 2.

Consequently, the NLC has directed all its affiliates and state councils to immediately begin mobilisation of workers and other Nigerians, including civil society allies, for a long-lasting strike and mass protests should the government fail to meet its demands.

9NEWS NIGERIA understands that this was one of the decisions reached at NLC’s Central Working Committee, CWC, meeting held Tuesday, July 25, at Abuja Labour House.

This is the second time the NLC is giving a Nationwide strike notice since the Inauguration of the President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s administration.
