The Imo State House of Assembly IMHA has adjourned to Thursday, 1st Feb, 2024 following the process of legislation under the Honourable Speaker Rt Hon Olemgbe.
9News Nigeria correspondent reports that the swearing-in of a New House Member was adopted having the House being properly constituted with the Speaker and all the Principal Officers well seated.
The rumour making the rounds as reported in several newspapers in Owerri that impeachment is looming was confirmed as nonexistent and misleading as 9News Nigeria reports.
Motions for the House to urge the state Governor to use all available government apparatus to recover the Imo House of Assembly Quarters originally built to accommodate House Members and their staff which has been illegally renamed Hero’s Apartment and converted to commercial use was adopted by the house.
Secondly a motion for the dissolution of all boards of parastatals, agencies and commissions as well as Coordinators and members of Local Govt development centres was also moved.
Both motions recorded several Honourable colleagues who made supportive submissions which included the Majority Leader, Rt Hon Chief Kanayo Onyemaechi, Hon Agbasonu, Hon Egu, Hon Ikpamezie and others.
And finally the House adjourned till Thursday, 1st Feb. 2024 through a motion for Adjournment raised by the Majority Leader, Rt Hon Chief Kanayo Onyemaechi (Owerri West) which was seconded by the minority leader, Hon Princewill Amuchie (Aboh Mbaise).
9News Nigeria Owerri reports that the trio principal officers of the 10 House IMHA, Majority Leader Kanayo Onyemaechi, Deputy speaker China Iwuanyanwu and the Honourable Speaker Rt Hon CHIKE OLEMGBE were spotted working in harmony against the ugly rumour of impeachment crooked by the people of the underworld and raised to distract the smooth operations of IMHA.
