The Vice President, His Excellency Kashim representing President Bola Ahmed Tinubu GCFR has inaugurated a 37-member tripartite committee on the national minimum wage, inaugurated.
9News Nigeria reports that the Vice President, Kashim Shetima performed the assignment at the instance of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu who jetted out for an economic trip to Paris.
— The committee comprising of representatives from federal and state governments, the private sector, and organised labor is tasked with recommending a new national minimum wage as the current N30,000 minimum wage expires in March 2024.
— Shettima emphasized the urgency for a timely resolution to ensure the emergence of a new minimum wage.
— The committee is chaired by former Head of the Civil Service of the Federation Bukar Aji, and it aims to formulate a fair, practical, implementable, and sustainable minimum wage.
VP Shetima further charged the Bukar new minimum wage committee with enormous responsibility to deliver more than expected of them.
