Nigeria Army on Saturday said troops and National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) operatives on 23 September 2017, raided a house of a notorious drug baron, Maxi Ota Benjamin now at large.
Benjamin resides in Amirima Compound, Achara Ihechiowa community in Arochukwu Local Government Area of Abia State.
Colonel Sagir Musa, Deputy Director Public Relations 82 Division, in a statement said the raid led to the arrest of four suspected accomplices who were in the wanted drug baron’s residence.
The statement added: “The following items were also recovered; 1× short single barrel gun, 1× long single barrel gun, 1x automatic pump action rifle, 1× locally made double barrel pistol, 1× binocular and 2× mobile phones of Intel and kismo brands. Others are some substance suspected to be indian hemp.
“The suspects and the substance have been handed over to NDLEA for further action.
“Similarly, the provision of free medical services to the people of Nnarambia community, Ahiara Mbaise in Ahiazu Mbaise Local Government Area of Imo State was successfully conducted today 23 September 2017.
“In his remarks at the event, Eze of Ahiara His Royal Highness Eze Dr. Pious Onyekwen Nfunala 1v of Ihiara Nnarambia community, thanked the Army for keeping the nation one indivisible entity and by extending the frèe medical services/supplies to his people.”
