The residence of the Chief of Staff to the Governor of Benue State, Hon. Paul Biam, yesterday late hours was in ashes due to the protesting Ukum youths of Benue State over the incessant killings going on in Zaki-Biam without Government intervention.
Recalls that, over the last two months not Fewer than 25 Persons were killed in the area by unknown gunmen.
As at yesterday, in the early hours, Six people were again killed by Unknown militia at Ayati, Borikyo,Ukum.
9News Nigeria gathered that,there was no condemnation nor arrest of this unknown gunmen,what sparked the reaction from the youths of the area.
The Protest started at “Ayati then spread down to “Sankara” and Zaki-Biam,with the youths of the area chanting songs and demanding to see any political appointee of the Governor of Benue State.
Unfortunately,there was none on ground to address the Youths. Angrily,the youths began burning down of the Local Government secretariat,INEC office,the council local government guest house, sadly the beautiful house of Hon.Paul Biam was not spared in the distadly act.
Reacting,the Executive Governor of Benue State,Gov Hyacinth Iormem Alia has since placed “a dusk to down” curfew in the area and security drafted to the area imidiately.
Reacting to the development,a public analyst wrote:”We now have security personnel released in large numbers heading to Zaki Biam”.
“Where the commoners are not secured, no one is really safe, including “big” men, no matter how big they’re”.
