In a highest move, the Director General of the National Intelligence Agency (NIA), Ahmed Rufai Abubakar, has resigned from his position.
Abubakar submitted his resignation letter to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu on Saturday August 24.
The reason behind Abubakar’s sudden departure are still sketchy, sparking speculation about the circumstances behind his exit.
Abubakar, who was appointed National Intelligence Agency Director General by the former President Muhammadu Buhari in January 2018, has been at the helm of the agency over five years.
His resignation comes at a time when the agency is critical in addressing Nigeria’s security challenges.
