President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has landed in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia for the Joint Arab-Islamic Summit focused on the escalating crisis in the Middle East.
This historic event scheduled for November 11, 2023, aims to strengthen ties between African nations and Saudi Arabia, focusing on expanding economic, political, and security collaborations between the regions.
Presidential spokesman, Bayo Onanuga, had earlier said the meeting is expected to address a number of critical regional issues, with particular emphasis on the ongoing Israel-Palestinian conflict.
President Tinubu will be joined by a high-level delegation, including Ambassador Yusuf Tuggar, Nigeria’s Minister of Foreign Affairs; Mallam Nuhu Ribadu, the National Security Adviser; Alhaji Mohammed Idris, the Minister of Information and National Orientation; and Ambassador Mohammed Mohammed, the Director General of the National Intelligence Agency (NIA).
During the summit, President Tinubu is expected to address the ongoing Israel-Palestinian conflict, emphasising Nigeria’s strong call for an immediate ceasefire.
Following the summit, President Tinubu is scheduled to return to Abuja, where he will continue to engage with international partners in pursuit of Nigeria’s foreign policy objectives and contribute to regional and global peace efforts.
The outcome of this year’s summit is eagerly anticipated as leaders seek pathways to stability and peace in a region plagued by decades-long tensions.
