BREAKING!!! Rivers Administrator, Ibas Makes First Statement After Meeting Tinubu, Reveals Next Action

The newly appointed Sole Administrator of Rivers State Ibok-Ete Ibas has said that his main responsibility in the state is to maintain law and order.

Speaking after his swearing in by President Bola Tinubu at the Presidential Villa in Abuja, Ibas in his first statement said he is ready to work towards ensuring stability in Rivers.

Recall that Ibas was appointed as a Sole Administrator to Rivers State following a declaration of a State of Emergency in the state by President Tinubu.

The president’s decision following the incessant political crisis that had rocked the state and a recent judgement by the Supreme Court which led to the reinstatement of Martins Amaewhule-led House of Assembly.

In his broadcast on Tuesday, March 18, the president suspended the Governor of Rivers State, Siminalayi Fubara and all lawmakers of the State’s House of Assembly.

However, speaking at the Villa, Ibas said the president made the circumstances leading to his appointment as Rivers Sole Administrator clear in his live broadcast.

He said, “First of all, I think we know the circumstances that led to where we are now and Mr President made it very clear in his broadcast.

“And if the main issue is that of maintaining law and order in the state, I think for any meaningful activities to take place in Rivers state, that is the utmost task that I have.

“I have to work together with all stakeholders to ensure that we bring peace, order, security and stability to the people and government of Rivers State and Nigeria at large,” Ibas said.
