Our attention has once again been drawn to a series of malicious, fake, and imaginary videos purporting to show explosions at oil and gas facilities in Rivers State.
These videos have been falsely linked to alleged militant groups within the state, with creators attempting to connect them to supporters of Governor Siminalayi Fubara.
Residents of the communities where these incidents are said to have occurred have already responded, dismissing any claims of explosions at oil and gas facilities in their areas. They assure everyone that all critical government assets within their jurisdictions are safe, secure, and functioning efficiently.
To clarify, Governor Siminalayi Fubara has no connections to any militant group, does not entertain such associations, and has no reason to support any criminal elements, either in the state or the Niger Delta. He is committed to maintaining the peace and security of his constituents, which is vital for the well-being of the community and the economy of the country.
The Governor has consistently emphasized at public events that maintaining peace in the state is his top priority. He is prepared to make any sacrifices necessary to ensure stability, as governance and development can only flourish in a secure environment.
Governor Fubara strongly warns those engaged in violence and economic sabotage to avoid Rivers State and refrain from using his name or exploiting the current political tensions to incite trouble.
Additionally, we urge bloggers and social media users to cease their efforts to create an atmosphere of tension, chaos, and anarchy in the state. Their misleading reports and posts over the past few days have already prompted harmful decisions that hinder the state’s progress.
We call on security agencies to take note of these fake videos designed to misinform the public and tarnish the state’s reputation. Necessary steps should be taken to address this issue and hold those responsible accountable.
