The Nigerian Army has intensified operations against bandits hideouts in Bauchi State, successfully dislodging their camp, arresting their family members, and destroying operational equipment in Madam Forest.
A combat report released on Wednesday April 15 in Abuja stated that troops of the 33 Artillery Brigade, working in collaboration with personnel from the Office of the National Security Adviser (ONSA), carried out the major operation.
Troops cleared notorious bandit camps, including the Azuge and Hari camps, which served as operational bases for criminal activities within the forest.
Several bandits were killed during the exchange of gunfire, while others fled following heavy bombardment by the troops.
Security personnel arrested 19 individuals believed to be family members of the terrorists, including six women and 13 children.
Troops recovered several items, including AK-47 rifle magazines, Tramadol tablets, fake security uniform (police and military) two horses.
Additionally, troops set ablaze motorcycles used by the bandits to restrict their mobility and waken their ability to carryout attacks.
The report also revealed that another raid was conducted in Mainamaji area following recent airstrikes. Although no suspects were encountered, it indicated that the bandits had fled due to military pressure.
Troops have now taken control of the forest to prevent the bandits from returning. The military reiterated its commitment to sustaining pressure until lasting peace is achieved and urged the public to continue providing timely intelligence and cooperation.
