The Nigerian Navy and Nigerian Army have intercepted vehicles conveying about 8,500 litres of suspected illegally refined petroleum products.
The operation, conducted by troops of the security agencies, along the Ejemekru-Obudi-Agwa axis of Imo State, also led to the arrest of three suspects allegedly involved in the transportation of the products.
The suspects and the intercepted vehicles have been taken into custody for further investigation, while efforts are ongoing to identify other individuals connected to the illegal petroleum activities.
The interception remains part of continued operations by security agencies to curb the illegal refining, and distribution of petroleum products in the Niger Delta region.
