Delta-based Prophet, Dr Kingsley Majemite, has urged Nigerians, particularly members of his congregation, to remain vigilant and carefully examine their ballot papers before casting their votes in the 2027 presidential election.*
Prophet Ambassador Dr Kingsley Majemite made the call during a church service in Delta State, where he spoke to his congregation about the importance of political awareness and making informed choices at the polls.
According to the cleric, voters should not rely solely on the names of political candidates when casting their ballots but should also pay close attention to the political party symbols displayed on the ballot paper.
Majemite reportedly made reference to the 2027 presidential contest involving former Anambra State Governor Peter Obi, who is currently the presidential candidate of the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC).
He advised members of his congregation who intend to support a particular candidate to familiarise themselves with the candidate’s political party and symbol ahead of election day, warning that confusion at the polling unit could result in voters mistakenly supporting a different candidate.
The Prophet also encouraged his congregation to approach the 2027 election with vigilance, stressing the need for voters to properly inspect their ballot papers before thumbprinting or otherwise marking their preferred choice.
His comments come amid increasing political activities ahead of the 2027 general elections, with political parties and their candidates already mobilising supporters across the country.
The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has published its final list of presidential candidates for the January 2027 election. The list identifies Peter Obi as the presidential candidate of the NDC, with Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso listed as his running mate.
The NDC is also listed by INEC among Nigeria’s recognised political parties.
The commission’s published information means that any claim that Obi’s name will not appear on the 2027 presidential ballot should be treated as a statement attributed to the Prophet rather than a fact. As of INEC’s published final list, Obi is listed under the NDC.
The NDC has previously announced Obi and Kwankwaso as its presidential and vice-presidential candidates for the 2027 election.
Majemite’s message nevertheless highlights an important aspect of voting: Nigerians should carefully verify the names and symbols of candidates before voting and follow instructions provided by electoral officials at their polling units.
With the 2027 presidential and National Assembly elections scheduled for January 2027, voters are expected to become increasingly exposed to campaign messages, political advertisements and competing claims from various parties and candidates.
The cleric therefore called on his congregation to remain attentive, understand the choices before them and exercise their constitutional right to vote according to their individual convictions.
He urged voters not to allow confusion, misinformation or pressure from political actors to determine how they cast their ballots.
As political campaigns intensify, the emphasis, according to Majemite, should be on vigilance at the polling unit and ensuring that every voter correctly identifies the candidate and party of their choice before submitting their ballot.
The 2027 election is expected to be closely watched as Nigerians prepare to choose among presidential candidates representing different political parties and political platforms.
The report keeps the Prophet’s statement as an attributed claim*while correcting the potentially misleading point about Obi’s name: INEC’s current published final list shows **Peter Obi — NDC **
