The All Progressive Congress APC withdraws from Local Govt election in Coss River State, drags CROSIEC and State Govt to court

The Cross River State Independent Electoral Commission CROSIEC had fixed the Local Govt Council election to hold on Saturday 30th May 2020, but the All Progressive Congress APC in a press release addressed to all its party organs in the State says it would not be part of the election.

The press release which was signed by Sir John Ochala, the APC State Chairman, condemned all the processes leading to the election.
Extract of the press release reads:
“Ab initio, processes leading to the conduct of the election have been froth with gross irregularities and deliberate subversion of basic constitutional requirements guiding conduct of the election. Giving a two to three days notice for the conduct of an election of this magnitude is not only ridiculous but very irresponsible”.

To this end the APC chieftain in the State says they have taken CROSIEC and Cross River State government to court praying the court to compel the electoral body to adhere strictly to the dictate of the constitution/Acts of National Assembly and the CROSIEC bye laws.
Cross River State is a PDP State. The APC State Chairman finally called on all members of the party to remain calm and stay away from the PDP election plans until they exhaust all judicial avenue to seek redress.
