She hails from Umuahia South Local Government Area of Abia State, South Eastern Nigeria.

Asagwara took her oath of office on Wednesday with many key members of her family in attendance.

Her rise to this position is said to be a remarkable feat, as she is not only a prominent figure in Canadian politics but also breaks new ground as the First Black Individual to achieve this exalted position in Manitoba.
