The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board, JAMB, has released the first batch of results for the 2026 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination, UTME, while also arresting some individuals suspected of exam malpractice involving the use of Artificial Intelligence, AI.
In a statement issued by the board’s spokesperson, Fabian Benjamin, it was revealed that the results of 632,788 candidates who sat for the examination on Thursday April 16 have been released.
According to reports, the examination commenced across about 966 Computer-Based Test, CBT, centres nationwide, with over 2.2 million candidates expected to participate.
However, the board disclosed that it has detained two students and a parent over allegations of generating fake results using AI technology and other electronic methods.
JAMB warned candidates and parents against engaging in result manipulation or forgery, stressing that such action constitute serious offences that could attract severe penalties.
The board further stated that the remaining results will be released in batches as the verification process continues.
