Faisal Lawal, an All Progressives Congress (APC) chieftain has called on Nigerian leaders to channel all their time and resources in taking care of challenges of their people.
He said that Nigerians leaders most stop their extravagance and lavish lifestyle in cities while their people are suffering in their local communities.
Lawal, a Special Adviser to Abdullahi Umar Ganduje, APC national chairman on revenue generation, said this on Thursday in an interview at his office in Abuja, after receiving an Excellence in Leadership award by a Non-Governmental Organization.

‘’Politicians should try to keep to their promises, the reason why this hunger issue is everywhere is because they do not go back home to look over their people, that money you go to spend at one meal, N200,000 in Abuja, can take care of one small community in your village,’’ he said.
Also, Lawal called on Nigerians to stop blaming only the federal government for their hardship, emphasizing that the people should questioned their state governors on how they spend the allocations they are receiving from the center.
He said that the high increment in federal allocation to states is enough to make a difference but some state government are not doing the right thing.
‘’Our governors should try their best, their revenues have increased to about 300 %, I posed the question to them, what are you doing with these allocations. The president should be blamed when he withheld the allocations, but he is given them their shares,’’ he explained.
Stating further, he said that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu is a leader that has the political will to change Nigeria, adding that some former Nigerian leaders knows that he is doing the right things but may not be supporting him out of jealousy.
‘’They know the right thing to do is what President Tinubu is doing, and they did not have the political will during their time, they are just jealous out there,’’ Lawal said.
On his award by DDPIS, Mr Lawal, who is also a member, board of trustees, Nigerian Maritime Academy, Oron, Akwa Ibom State, said that he was surprised and touched by their recognition of his efforts and honoring him.
While thanking the NGO, he noted that the award will not only serve as a reminder that people are watching, but a call to do more in the future.
