Ashawo Joint Set Ablaze In Orlu Area, Customers Ran, One Died

A brothel known as Ukwu Aki located at Amadim in Amaifeke, opposite Afor Ogidi modern market in Orlu Imo state Nigeria was set ablaze during a gun battle between Ebubeagu Operatives and Hoodlums who invaded the area.

9News Nigeria gathered that the incident happened on Sunday as operatives of Ebubeagu engaged bandits in a gun battle whereby raising high tension of insecurity in the state.

Sources told 9News Nigeria that the bandits were reportedly angered on sighting the Ebubeagu operatives in the community on Saturday night and came out on Sunday to battle them causing tension in the land.

However, Information brought to us reveales that the gunmen allegedly shot at the tires of the vehicle belonging to the Army near the judiciary High Court in Orlu and the fight spread to Ihioma and Awo- Idemili in Orsu LGA.

Meanwhile, the gun battle having lasted for hours distracted business activities and seriously affected the Easter Celebration.

The incident was not a good one in the state where the Government has promised maximum security and welfare of the masses who now live in fear of the unknown.

Most importantly, the brothel set ablaze will also affect the owner who has invested heavily in the business. Majority of the people who spoke with 9News Nigeria, condemned the act and call on Imo state government to improve efforts to provide security to Ndi Imo.

At the time of this report one person was confirmed dead while many others sustained various degrees of injuries. The customers who came to patronize the Ashawos were arrested and many ran away for their dear lives.

The police has confirmed the incident and called on Imolites to go on with their normal businesses and works while their intelligence gathering continues to fish out the Hoodlums and to secure lives and Properties in the state.
