OWERRI (9News Nigeria) – Imo State Governor, Hope Uzodinma has hosted the National Onion Producers, Processors and Marketers Association of Nigeria (NOPPMAN) led by their National President, Alhaji Aliyu Maitasimu Isah.
The Governor extended his benevolence as a culturally dynamic leader by inviting the Onion producers to have a rapport with him at his office, Imo State government house on Friday, 25th June 2021.
In a press release from the governor’s office made available to 9News Nigeria Imo State correspondent, the governor said that he sympathized with the association on account of the unfortunate loss of lives and businesses during the recent security breaches which rocked the state.
Via the statement, the governor said that his government has a duty to ensure that every Nigerian in Imo State is protected. He also said that he assures the Northern Onion producers that Imo State is now safe for all genuine businesses to thrive irrespective of their tribe, class or religion.
Governor Uzodinma also reiterated that he is pledging to set up a committee to work out modalities to compensate the onion producers for the losses incurred by their members whose goods were destroyed.
“In line with the group’s appeal for compensation for goods that were destroyed, I pledged to set up a committee to work out modalities and cushion the losses of members whose goods were affected,” governor Uzodinma said as he addressed the guests.
Governor Uzodinma furthermore said: “I called for a united front against the common enemies that seek to divide us, urging them to continue to partner with the State Government and the local authorities for the peace and progress of their host communities.”
