Breaking: Imo State Traffic Management Agency (ISTMA) Prosecutes Traffic Offenders At A Mobile Court In Owerri /6 Convicted, 1 Acquitted

Imo State Traffic Management Authority (ISTMA), Thursday, 28-07-2022, held their mobile court session to prosecute road traffic offenders in the state.

This is inline with compliance to the policies anchored on living to their professional vows of the sanitization of Imo State road traffic space in the extent laws and observation of due process in the state.

Recall that the authority had on March this year launched their mobile court outfit to try road traffic violators in a court of competent jurisdiction.

The mobile court sits periodically at the precincts of ISTMA to prosecute road traffic violators that refuses to settle with the authority out of court for their road traffic violations.

Empowered by law number 14 of 2011; the ISMTA controls and manages road traffics in the state and also to prosecute road traffic violators in accordance with extant laws of the state on road traffic violation.

In this edition of the mobile court headed by a Chief Magistrate, Obinna Njemanze, a total of seven (7) traffic violators were tried for various traffic offences with the mobile court convicting 6 for various traffic infractions and setting one (1) free.

The ministry of transport under the watch of the commissioner for Transport, Barr. Rex Anunobi ( Sokom) has always pleaded with motorists in the state to continue to observe the road traffic rules and regulations while driving, noting that failure to observe the road traffic regulations would attract dire consequences for the offenders.

The Road Transit Inspector and the Coordinator of ISTMA, Comrade Uche Frank Obi promised that ISTMA under his coordination will continue to follow the due process of the law in the prosecution of the road traffic violators by giving the offenders the offenders the opportunity to defend themselves in an open court.
