We bring solidarity greetings in the name of the most revered, respected and diplomatic Aluta with high sense of veracity as well as selfless service for the betterment of Ogitech Students.
You will recall that a circular was issued by the Student Union Government that the school management has resolved to meet with the Students Union Government in wake of the protest which trail the demise of one of our student.
As it is widely known, the purpose of a protest or demonstration is to publicly make our opinion heard after which we will give room for a dialogue if requested. The Student Union Government on behalf of Ogitech Students acquiesce to dialogue with the school management to see to it that the 25 list of the demands of our students are attended to.
The meeting which was slated to hold today Tuesday 10th November 2020 had in attendance the Students Union Executive, Departmental heads, notable student leaders, the Rector and by extension the school management.
The list was presented to the management and after much deliberations we were able to achieve the following
Compensation For The Victim:- The Management in collaboration with state Government has duly compensated the family of Yussuf Maleek while stating that no form of compensation can amount to the life lost.
A well equipped health center:-The school management has approved the renovation of school health center with essential materials.
Purchase of Ambulance:- The school management has approved the the purchase of new school ambulance so that emergency can be adequately attended to and it is expected to be delivered by next week.
School Fee should be paid in instalment:- The school management stated that in their commitment to meet the demands of the students, they will give it necessary consideration and the details will be made available in due cause.
A well equipped Laboratory across the school:- The school management has also approved the procurement of necessary equipment in the school laboratories.
Provision of campus shuttle:- The management had promised to look into that as well.
No more payment of Obligatory fee:- The management promised that efforts will be put in place and further resolution as regards that would be communicated.
Construction of more lecture building:- A new building is under construction in engineering department and will be replicated across other departments.
Student Union Government election must be conducted with no interference from the management:- The students electoral committee will be inaugurated latest by Friday 14th November 2020. Sale of form will commence immediately with no interference whatsoever.
Enlargement of School Book shop:- It was suggested that the sale of books should be done by all faculty to foster easy accessibility and the school management promised to look into that. The resolution will be further communicated to the students
No sale of handout for this semester:- The school management reiterated their stand of no sale of handout for this semester.
School time table should be followed:- Approved
Well equipped workshop for engineering faculty:- Construction of new building is underway and will be well equipped.
In respect of the above highlighted demands, the Students Union Government Ogitech, on behalf of it’s teeming members wishes to appreciate our ever listening mother of great repute, Eng, Dr, Mrs Olufunke Olanike Akinkurolere, FNSE and by extension the school management for always lending a listening ear and making students wellbeing and welfarism their topmost priority.
In the same vein, we recognise and appreciate the gallantry, courage, steadfastness and firmness of our students, leaders and comrades in the field of struggle in ensuring that justice is done and our demands are met. May the spirit of Aluta never elude us all and may we not die prematurely. Amen
In addition, the postponed second semester examination for ND1 students have be rescheduled to hold on Friday 14th November 2020. All students are enjoin to resume on or before Thursday to enable them prepare for the continuation of their exams.
Lastly, We beseech all students to remain calm, peaceful and law abiding as usual, knowing full well that the students Union Government remain committed to ensuring that their rights are not infringed and their well-being is protected.
