Traffic expert has called on Imo state government to stamp down on traffic offenders in Imo state particularly in Owerri the capital city where stubborn drivers have decided to remain addicted to the old rules where neglect to driving rules and Traffic signs are ripe.

This trend has continued even as the Imo state government under governor Uzodinma has introduced traffic lights and road signs all over the states.

9News Nigeria reports that Immediately Uzodinma’s administration took charge of the state, he did not waste any time to make the state shine again having restored back the beauty traffic lights behold to Imo state Nigeria.

A Traffic expert few hours ago through a chat with 9News Nigeria is calling on the Government of Imo state to put to work every necessary measure to track down traffic offenders and stubborn drivers on our roads.

He noted with dismay the urgly attitude of Imo drivers disobeying road sings and traffic order, which he lamented that such recalcitrant attitudes of drivers must stop by Government effective order in action.

They expert hinted that in Lagos, Port-Harcourt, Kaduna, Enugu and some other states of the Federation where traffic order is obyed cannot be measured with such a care free attitude being showcased by drivers in Imo state.

He further assured that with the help of traffic wardens and the police positioned along the road precisely at the lighting points, law breaking and disobedience drivers will be seriously dealt with.

While rolling out the dangers trucks on the road could cause, he said the trucks are hazards for other motorists even under ideal circumstances, because of their sheer size and weight.

There is rarely if ever merely a fender bender involving a car and a truck. Usually, any collision at all between a car and truck is disastrous for the occupants of the car. Hazards increase when a driver disobeys traffic laws, such as by running a red light or driving through a stop sign, he said.

Sometimes a truck driver finds himself unable to stop quickly enough when encountering a red light or stop sign, and “has to” run on through the intersection; perhaps because the road is heading uphill and the truck, weighing many tons, cannot easily stop, or because of traffic congestion or visibility problems.

In other cases, a truck driver may frankly run through a red light or stop sign on purpose in a warehouse district in a small town, for example. He may do this for the sake of convenience and to save time, perhaps believing no other traffic is approaching the intersection.

The driver of a car, meanwhile, may be less than alert and not realize in time that the truck is approaching the intersection and is not going to stop.

In some cases, a driver of a car or motorcycle doesn’t see a truck at all in time to stop and collides with the truck as it runs a red light or stop sign.

This call is however very crucial to the draw the attention of Imo state government to assign traffic agents and law enforcement Officials to implement the road traffic order without fear or favour.

Along Aba Owerri road by Enwerem way and at Naze Junction, cars heading towards Nekede Ihiagwa roads and Enwerem way are expected to take the right lane but it may suprise our readers to note that these lanes are seen blocked regularly by vehicles that are supposedly be on speed lane.

Another point to note is for Imo state government to re-activate non- functional traffic lights along Imo roads to avoid traffic congestion and accidents.
