The Centre for Teaching and Learning Academy, Nigeria, held a lively one-day sports program at its permanent site, celebrating the integration of sports and education.
The event, held over the weekend, featured activities on the institution’s FIFA-sized football pitch and newly constructed track field.
Founder and Proprietor of the academy, Ms. Agodi Alagbe, welcomed parents, students, invited schools, and friends of the institution.
In her opening remarks, she reaffirmed the academy’s commitment to holistic child development, emphasizing the importance of blending academics with physical activities.
The Olu of Warri and his wife were among the distinguished guests.
In a show of humility and solidarity, they requested to be addressed simply as “parents” for the day.
Delivering the keynote address, Ms. Alagbe stated that sports play a vital role in developing disciplined, resilient, and team-oriented individuals.
“Sports and education go hand-in-hand in molding a well-rounded child.
“Through football, athletics, and other activities, students learn invaluable lessons in teamwork, discipline, and healthy competition — skills that prepare them for life’s challenges.” She said.
The event featured a series of football matches and athletics competitions, with students demonstrating skill, teamwork, and sportsmanship.
The spirited performances reinforced the academy’s belief that sports can serve as a tool for societal development, promoting unity and excellence among Nigerian youth.
A touching highlight of the day was the recognition of the academy’s Valedictorian, Timi Kadiri, a 12th-grade student who has been with the school throughout his academic journey.
Timi, who recently lost his mother, was celebrated for his resilience and outstanding performance, serving as an inspiration to the school community.
The Centre for Teaching and Learning Academy continues to set the pace in combining academic excellence with sports, demonstrating that nurturing both mind and body is critical to raising well-rounded leaders for the future.
